Tea Towels from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Honestly, who thinks about tea towels / flour sack towels? But for some reason, I really like a GOOD tea towel. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I don't have a dishwasher and finding a really good tea towel is a little thing that brings me joy. I found this one at Target probably 5 or 6 years ago and I bought all they had - they are nice and big.And I like these I found online a few years

Rogue Finishes from The Snarky Quilter

At the beginning of each year I make a list of projects I’d like to develop. Of the six projects on my 2023 list, I’ve done two, and have started work on another. My overall goal is to use up my silk fabrics. Somehow, however, rogue projects muscle their way in and get done before those waiting patiently on the list.

The two recent line cutters are my Clare Youngs tea towel and my bedsheet birds. Neither took much arduous planning and both were more like a snack between meals. The tea towel took a bit more time ...

Weekly Word: Giving Up Control + Books, Stitches and Gratitude! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Hello There!

It's wonderful to return to normalcy - healthy, free of health scares, organizing, blogging and a social life!  There was a complication with my knee surgery and after that a breast cancer scare (all is well).  More on that in the Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer section.  We transferred my Daddy's home library (well over 300 books) to our home, which led to a re-organization of my office and sewing studio.  I even managed to acquire more storage room - how did that happen?

Are you familiar with the book, When You Give a Mouse a Cookie?  I ...

House Warming Gift from Romany Quilting

The gift to my granddaughter has been posted and received, so now it’s time to show it.  Megan and her boyfriend have recently bought a home, and we are very proud of their achievement.  Of course she needed a house warming gift – luckily I had already started an embroidered tea towel for Megan and her sister, so I was half way there.  With the embroidery complete, I added fabric borders to finish them off.

How about a matching double handed oven mitt to go with it, I thought.  I used up the ...

The Weather Outside is Frightful from Romany Quilting

Isn't there a song which says that?  It’s certainly true in my part of the world, wind, rain, thunder and lightning, snow down to low altitudes and even some hail is promised!  It’s a good day to stay inside, I think.  We started off the day with a nice warming bowl of porridge, served with brown sugar and cream, the only way to eat it, we think.  I may well have Scottish blood in my veins but I enjoy my porridge a lot more titivated up than the real Scots porridge eaters do.  With a full tummy ...

Weekly Word: A Transparent Testimony Plus My Reading, Stitching and Gratitude This Week! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello there!

It's good to be back!  I'm recovering from the partial knee replacement with a new attitude which I am sharing in The Weekly Word.  Full disclosure, this devotional is quite transparent and humbling to share online, but how can I not share how God has changed me?

This week's post is only a partial look into my hobbies, however, you will soon be caught up in the next few weeks.

The "Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer" link below offers more details about my physical recovery.

Your posts and comments have been a delight to read ...

At Last from Romany Quilting

Finally finished, the stitching on two tea towels, one each for my grand daughters.  I decided to make them for the girls for when they finally get engaged perhaps, and settle down.  Now that Megan has become a home owner with her boyfriend, I think that qualifies, don't you?  The iron on transfer is from  the very clever Stitcher’s Revolution Cute Kitchen Sayings pattern booklet.  I need to add strips of fabric to the top and bottom of each tea towel and have some “kitchen” themed fabric purchased and ready to go.  That’s the next job.

Weekly Word: Keeping My Mind Stayed on Him Plus My Reading, Stitching and Gratitude This Week! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello there!

I know your time is precious, so I appreciate you taking time to pop in!  How was your week?  Are you enjoying some beautiful spring weather?

Last week I knew surgery would soon be approaching, so I scheduled play dates with days to rest afterwards.  I visited my local library (support those local libraries!) and had a morning Bible study with a new friend.    So, it was an active week!  This week there was little time for hobbies or blogging!  I even forgot to link up to some of my regular parties!

Saturday's Song: The Cross Has The Final Word. Slow Stitching: An Ornament & A Tea Towel. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song: The Cross Has The Final Word

Goodness gracious, how this song blessed me!  My dears!  Focus on Him and His grace!  You are saved! All is nailed to the cross that you might be free!

That is why Jesus died on the cross - for our freedom!

Accept Him, serve Him, love Him, trust Him!  Live out your freedom as you follow Him!  Oh!  I am so grateful that He's taken my pain, my past, my sin, my life and has replaced it with love, forgiveness and freedom!

My prayer for you is that you will receive ...

Saturday's Song: Giants Fall. Slow Stitching: The Set is Finished! Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song: Giants Fall.
Remember the story about David facing the giant, Goliath? He killed him with a step in faith and a stone. Are we facing giants today? We sure are! Fires. Floods. Pandemics. Illnesses. Strife. The list goes on and on.

With God, we need not be shaken!
But so do the promises of God!
They are innumerable!
When we pay attention to His promises, giants fall! Fear fades! Faith Grows!
Perhaps you would like to find some promises? Here is a list to get you started!
I pray this song by Francesca Battistelli and the story ...

Saturday's Song: You Got This. Slow Stitching: Tea Towel. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song:  You Got This by Love and The Outcome

I was so happy to hear this upbeat praise song!  It reminded me when a dear friend of ours shared an encouraging Word.  He said that the LORD had told him (paraphrased), "Don't worry, I got this."

Let us share this message:  The LORD is capable, He has us in the palm of His hand!  He's got us!

Slow Stitching

Here is the Friday’s Tea Towel all stitched up! I changed things up a bit by using the Stem Stitch on this one.  I believe this ...

Papa Bear from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Many of you know that I am in love with bears. I saw another bear just recently when hubby and I were on a trip up north in July. We were driving home on a rural road after visiting a shop that sold wild rice. I always try to pick up a pound or two when ever we are in Northern Minnesota. The bear was quite some distance away, but still a thrill to see! He had disappeared back into the woods by the time we were close enough to see him. While doodling the other day, I came up ...

Saturday’s Song: Known. Slow Stitching: Pressing Matters . Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Saturday’s Song:  Known

He knows us, warts and all, but still loves and pursues us.

The lyrics of this entire song blew me away.  After all, how many people fully know us, warts and all, and truly love us.  Also, how many people do we fully know and truly love?  Ouch.  Right?
God's grace became even more apparent to me as I listened to this song with my spirit.  This part of the lyrics served to magnify God in my life even more:

"It's hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known fully known and loved by ...

Saturday's Song: I'm Gonna See A Victory. Slow Stitching. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song:  I’m Gonna See A Victory

Wow, I read this article and was amazed how Scripturally based this song is!  What the defeated one means for evil, God means for good (Genisis 50:20)!  He really does.
All of us at one time or other have had to face grueling circumstances, apparently abandoned by God, but He’s right there with us.  However, it’s perfectly fine to question, to argue, to be angry.
Life’s circumstances can get so very dark and so extremely difficult that nervous system will take us to a place where we ...

The trinket box was easy to sew with SCHMETZ Super NonStick needles even with multiple layers of fusible stabilizer and iron-on adhesives.

Today I’ll put these fabulous new Super NonStick needles to a different kind of test by sewing a lunch bag out of recycled denim and hook and loop tape.

Let’s go.
